The steering committee

The Whole Grain Promotion Steering Committee is made up of representatives from the different types of organizations involved in the partnership. Below you will find the people who together lead Whole Grain Promotion, and what they say about the collaboration.

Lovisa Martin Marais

Steering Group Chair
Nutrition Manager, Lantmännen R&D

The promotion of whole grains in Sweden is long overdue and needed to increase awareness and consumption of the most important food ingredient for our health.

Rikard Landberg

Vice Chair of the Steering Group
Professor and Head of Department, Chalmers University of Technology

The Whole Grain Promotion is a unique opportunity and a powerful tool to translate research and innovation into practice. I have high hopes that this constellation will be able to achieve increased consumption of whole grains for the benefit of individual health and planetary sustainability.

Britta Ekman

Steering group member
Head of Sustainable Food Consumption Unit, Swedish National Food Agency

The Swedish National Food Agency is involved in the Whole Grain Promotion Program to contribute to improved public health by promoting increased consumption of whole grains. A positive change in dietary habits can improve the health of individuals and society as a whole in Sweden. Our role is to contribute knowledge and networks in this work and to raise awareness of the benefits of eating whole grains.

Maiju Wetterhall

Steering groupmember
, registered dietitian and lifestyle expert

Increasing whole grain consumption is important for cancer prevention. In order to increase consumption, information and product development are needed to make it easy for consumers to eat healthily.

Karin Jonsson

Steering groupmember
Product portfolio sustainability manager, Paulig.

At Paulig, we know that whole grains are one of the most important dietary factors for a long and healthy life, yet only one in ten Swedes eat enough whole grains. We have plenty of whole grains in Risenta's mueslis and granolas and whole grain options among our tortillas and Asian range. But we want to do more. Supporting and engaging with FullkornsFrämjandet is an important step in that direction.

Hilda Björkman

Steering Group Member
Marketing Director Fazer Bakery

We are part of FullkornsFrämjandet because together we will drive, inspire and highlight the benefits of whole grain. We think it is important to offer several different types of whole grain bread to choose from as we know that taste and variety are important to consumers

Per Frank

Steering Group Member
Nordic Nutrition and Public Affairs Manager, Nestlé

With well-known brands in breakfast cereals like Cheerios, Fitness and Nesquik, whole grains are a natural fit for us. Whole grains are the main ingredient in almost all our products. Nestlé works all over the world to promote whole grain intake, so actively supporting Whole Grain Promotion is a given for us.

Elisabeth Rytter

Steering group member
Research and nutrition manager, Swedish Food Federation

The Swedish Food Federation has been one of the driving forces behind the establishment of FullkornsFrämjandet , and it is with great pleasure that we have now come together with many different partners to get Sweden to eat more whole grains and even more foods with whole grains on store shelves.

Cecilia Anneling

, Steering Group MemberHead of Communications, Swedish Food Retailers Federation

We are proud to be part of the newly launched FullkornsFrämjandet, which aims to increase the consumption of whole grain products.
Whole grains are one of the most important parts of the diet to achieve sustainable and healthy food consumption.
Today, 9 out of 10 adults eat too little whole grain, and a too low intake of whole grain tops the list of the biggest risk factors in Swedes' eating habits according to the Swedish National Food Agency.

In our consultation response regarding the Swedish National Food Agency's proposal for updated general dietary guidelines for the adult population, we welcomed the fact that the amount of 70 grams has been removed as this is difficult to relate to. Almost everyone needs to eat more whole grains, and it would be helpful to exemplify which foods contain whole grains and how consumers can easily switch to more whole grain-rich products in their everyday lives.
