FINALISTS IN THE WHOLE GRAIN SANDWICH COMPETITION

On January 14, the final of the Brödinstitutet and FullkornsFrämjandet whole grain sandwich competition will take place!
The three entries that have made it to the final are:
• Power Roll – created by Thomas Boström
• Double whole grain sandwich – created by Emma Falander, Rammefors konditori
• Delicious sandwich with carrot spread and mysterious tofu – created by Katarina Johansson

The competition is sponsored by Sveba Dahlen and Ankarsrum. The finalists will compete for:
First prize: Sveba Dahlen Teddy kitchen machine, worth approx. SEK 15,000
Second prize: Ankarsrum kitchen assistant, worth approx. SEK 10,000
Third prize: KitchenAid food processor, worth approx. SEK 2,000

    A study shows that young people are motivated to eat more whole grains because of increased energy, satiety, and better stomach health—not because of finger-pointing. Through the Whole Grain Boost initiative, approximately 10,000 students in Västra Götaland will have the opportunity to eat more whole grains in school meals, in line with dietary recommendations. The aim of the initiative is to increase the consumption of whole grains among young people for better public health.

    The winning whole grain sandwich lowers the threshold for choosing whole grains in everyday life. It's delicious without being complicated! Power Roll is a wrap with whole grain tortilla filled with hummus, yogurt with a hint of lemon zest, baby spinach, and chicken. The sandwich was created by Thomas Broström in Boden, who tested it on his teenage son, and it was also a hit with the jury led by Carolina Klüft.

The inaugural year will be marked by a store campaign and the final of the Whole Grain Sandwich Competition. The initiative brings together researchers, organizations, and the business community to promote better public health.
